Above the Stove: The Grease Zone
The area directly above and around the stovetop is the highest-concentration grease zone in any kitchen. Range hood filters should be removed and degreased — we soak them in hot water with a degreasing agent for 15–20 minutes, then scrub and rinse. The range hood exterior and underside collect the same residue.
Cabinet fronts within a metre of the stove will have a tacky, invisible grease film if they haven't been degreased recently. Use a food-safe degreaser applied with a soft cloth — scrubbing too hard on painted or laminate cabinets can damage the finish.
Inside Every Appliance
Most routine cleaning services don't clean inside appliances — our Deep Cleanse does. The oven interior, microwave (including the ceiling), refrigerator shelving and drawers, and dishwasher filter all receive attention.
The refrigerator is often overlooked. We remove all shelving and drawers, wash them in the sink with warm soapy water, dry them, and wipe down the interior walls and ceiling before replacing everything. The door seals — a frequent source of mildew — get scrubbed with a small brush.
Countertops, Backsplash & Sink
Different countertop materials require different products. Granite and stone should never be cleaned with vinegar or acidic products — we use a pH-neutral stone cleaner. Laminate and solid surface counters can handle more standard cleaners.
Tile backsplashes accumulate grease in the grout between tiles. We use a grout brush and appropriate cleaner to restore the grout lines to their original colour. The sink and faucet receive a full descaling treatment — limescale builds up around the base of faucets and inside the drain, and it's particularly noticeable in homes on Bellingham's water supply.
Floors, Baseboards & Behind Everything
We pull out the refrigerator, dishwasher, and freestanding appliances to clean behind and underneath. The floor under a refrigerator can collect years of debris if it hasn't been moved. Baseboards in the kitchen attract grease and cooking residue, which traps dust — we wipe these down completely.
The kitchen floor receives a full mop with an appropriate product for the floor type — we take care not to use excess water on hardwood or laminate flooring, which can cause swelling over time.
